As far as I am aware it's not possible to execute the aggregation in background.
The aggregation is done by FM SWNC_COLLECTOR_GET_AGGREGATES so maybe you could write a small Z* program that calls the FM passing the period data that you want to aggregate and then you could choose the execution server of this abap when scheduling it to run in the background.
