As the part of solution proposal team in my company, I have come across a requirement where the customer wants to introduce SAP BO suite reporting to facilitate its business reporting and analytics on top of SAP ECC. Currently, Customer is running the business in SAP ECC with Database as DB2. The proposed list of reports also contains some analytical reports like ageing, trend. Hence, I am not keen in do direct BO reporting on top of ECC as it will only bring operational reporting perspective to the business.
Considering long term plan, its better to introduce SAP BW and perform BO reporting on top of BW. I was thinking to suggest SAP Cloud to the customer as it is cost effective and its better to introduce HANA instead of classical DB. Customer is not a big one and could not afford to invest heavily in IT Infrastructure.
My concern is, Should we propose:
1. SAP BW with Classical DB on premises(Not advisable as SAP Innovation is going towards HANA).
2. SAP BW on HANA on premises(High Cost).
3. SAP BW on HANA on cloud(IAAS/PAAS/SAAS)??.
Considering, SAP ECC is on premises, will it be advisable to put SAP BW in cloud and then integrate SAP BW with SAP ECC. Will there be any trade-offs with this approach?
